What is a corporate tower that is simultaneously a technology research center, a design hub, a railway station, and a transportation node? What do speed, communication, and innovation have to do with the city of Charlotte, NC?
TECH+ tower utilizes its central location by introducing a bike center and a connecting bike lane that further expands the possibilities of movement through the city. The tower, with its vertical landscape, intensifies the presence of the horizontal ramps, planes, and spaces; thus blurring the boundaries between inside and outside. In this way a series of continuous trajectories traverse the entire structure like warped interior boulevards, emphasizing the constant movement of people and ideas through the city.
The constant exchange and motion of ideas synthesize the flow of the surrounding urban space. The building becomes the city - a field of productive mediation between social groups and institutions.
